Welcome Erich Hofmeister as our Featured Provider of July!
Erich has been part of the thera-LINK family for about 18 months now, and we are so grateful that he chose us for his telehealth provider. He has been so easy to work with and really tweaked his Directory listing to be one of the best on our site. His website is also amazing and by far, one of the best therapist sites I've seen!
Erich also gives us great feedback on our application, which we love because it allows us to know our customers better and build the features they want. Without further adieu, let's learn more about Erich and his coaching practice now!
What is your name and the name of your practice? How long have you been in practice?
Erich Hofmeister, Blue Shore, almost two years with my practice Blue Shore, and 16 years coaching.
What do you do for fun? What hobbies do you do? Tell us about you outside of your "provider" role. :)
I love family time first off and getting outdoors with my two boys ages 6 and 7 is my joy - even better that they've now developed a love for football and the Vikings!! :) I've also played drums for over 30 years and so I love getting on the set and making music.
Way too many to name! So I'll go with my current fav: Scary Close by Donald Miller
Favorite TV Show/Movie?
The Human Experience (documentary)
Where do you practice (state, etc..) and what areas do you specialize in?
MN is where my practice is located. I specialize in "Transformational" coaching which means I'm interested in an individual "becoming" the best and truest version of themselves in order to not just reach a short term goal but be on a completely different trajectory long term.
I also tell my clients that this type of coaching is "therapeutic" but not therapy. By that, I mean that any coaching worth its salt should be restorative in some measure - enabling the person to overcome internal obstacles, take hold of gifts that have laid dormant, and live their life with fullness, making genuine progress.
Why did you go into your profession?
I love people's stories. With that, there is nothing greater than being a catalyst for deep, meaningful change in a person's story.
What are you passionate about in your practice?
Truly listening, and engaging with where a client is at with all of those individual and wonderfully unique complexities. We all share similar struggles and yet we all have very personal stories. Every day and every session is new and I love to find out what is possible with a person moving forward. It is so often much more than they've imagined!
How long have you been doing online sessions with your clients?
Why did you start using thera-LINK to see clients?
I looked at quite a few platforms for this and Thera-LINK stood out for two core reasons. The customer service and technical help was above and beyond other platforms - very fast and personal. And the site is so clean and easy-to-use. That is massively important when you are bringing new clients on board.
Do your clients find that online sessions offer them similar results as coming in to an office? Do they prefer online sessions or in office? Was it a difficult adjustment for them?
Almost all of my clients now are in different states in the U.S. or overseas. So it has become normative to me to meet almost exclusively online. They love it.
What would you tell someone just starting out with an online option for their clients? Any tips/tricks or things you've learned along the way?
A free introductory session is really helpful so they can see that there is still a great connection with their coach or counselor online. I also send them a "Recap" of what we discussed and tackled in our sessions which allows them to just focus during our chat and be there in the moment.
Where do you work from mostly? (i.e. home office, beach :), actual office where you see clients in person as well?)
Did you purchase any new equipment when you embarked in an online practice? Either way, what do you use for your sessions? (i.e. laptop/tablet, webcam, headset, big monitor)
I use an HP Elitebook with a Sony headset. It works like a charm!
