Candice Cox

Welcome Candice Cox as our Featured Provider of June!

We took a couple months off from featuring a provider but we are kicking off June 2019 by bringing the Fireside Chat blog back! We've got an awesome and "go getter" type of gal to feature here in Candice Cox this month and we couldn't be more excited than to kick off the summer with her! Candice has been a thera-LINK customer for two years now and from day one, she's asked us insightful questions and is always working to learn and improve her skills so she can help more clients! She also uses words like 'awesomeness' and 'cool' when she chats with us so she's speaking our language, which we quite enjoy. 😎 So, let's learn more about Candice and her practice now!

What is your name and the name of your practice? How long have you been in practice?
A&A Inspirations - We have been in practice six years. I'm what I want to be when I grow up so I love to spread the KHAOS (Keep Healing And Overcoming Struggles) Mindset with individuals! I believe mental wellness is DOPE (Done On Purpose Everyday) and we must make our mental health a priority.

What do you do for fun? What hobbies do you do? Tell us about you outside of your "provider" role. :)
I love to go to the park and swing in the swings, dance in my home as if no one is watching, and finding joy in the crazy things my kids do on a daily basis.

Favorite Book?
"Becoming" by Michelle Obama

Favorite TV Show/Movie?
"This is Us"

Where do you practice (state, etc..) and what areas do you specialize in?
I specialize in intergenerational and environmental trauma in St. Louis, MO. I also provide coaching as well, nationally and internationally thanks to thera-Link!

Why did you go into your profession?
I love helping people help themselves become better. I have completed, and continue to complete, my personal work to create and maintain mental wellness and want to be a catalyst for others to propel them forward.

swingingWhat are you passionate about in your practice?
I’m passionate about seeing people make the connections on their healing journeys.

How long have you been doing online sessions with your clients?
I have been practicing online counseling for almost 2 years.

Why did you start using thera-LINK to see clients?
I was looking for a HIPAA-compliant platform that was willing to grow with me and this is it. Great staff and great services.

Do your clients find that online sessions offer them similar results as coming in to an office? Do they prefer online sessions or in office? Was it a difficult adjustment for them?
It was an adjustment for some but most were excited about the flexibility.

What would you tell someone just starting out with an online option for their clients? Any tips/tricks or things you've learned along the way?
Take your time and create a plan before jumping out there.

Where do you work from mostly? (i.e. home office, beach :), actual office where you see clients in person as well?)
I usually see clients from home.

Did you purchase any new equipment when you embarked in an online practice? Either way, what do you use for your sessions? (i.e. laptop/tablet, webcam, headset, big monitor)
I didn’t need to as I already had a home office.
